Job Description:
My client is currently recruiting for an Offshore Health and Safety Manager to provide expert health and safety advice in relation to planning, construction and operation of its offshore wind farms and associated works. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all relevant safety legislation is adhered to and policies and practices are adopted and will plan, implement, monitor and review the protective and preventative measures that will ensure the companys offshore business activities are carried out in a safe manner with the target minimum lost time incidents and zero accidents.
Key Responsibilities and Activities
- Understand, promote and adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations and policies in undertaking all activities. Liaise with regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with mandatory
- Carry out safely audits, risk assessments and incident investigations which identify and take account of all relevant hazards
- Assist in the preparation and review of contract documentation and scopes of work and in the selection and management of offshore contractors.
- Proactively keep up to date with all latest developments and new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all the Health & Safety legislation and any developments that affect the companys business activities
- Inform colleagues about relevant H&S legislation, guidance and precedents associated implications in relation to offshore development.
- Ensure offshore development team are kept aware of health and safety requirements and that health and safety is a priority for all team members
- Work with H&S Manager to promote a culture of continuous HS&E improvement and to share good practice across the company. Plan practical and effective methods, both preventative and remedial, of promoting health and safety and safe working practices
- Lead in-house training with managers and employees regarding key health and safety issues
- Respond to consultations and contribute to external studies/research/working groups as appropriate
- Proactively engage with stakeholders, partners, industry, BWEA and regulators on offshore H&S issues.
- Liaise with offshore colleagues, including Project Managers and the Environment Manager to ensure that `Environment (`E) is fully integrated into H&S plans
- Liaise with partners and other internal colleagues (eg in finance, engineering) to ensure projects are designed and developed to be practical, safe and efficient pose minimum impact for the environment or stakeholders
- Ensure a consistent approach is taken to HS&E across all offshore markets
- Design and support a range of prevention and training measures to improve safety
- Develop occupational safety elements of integrated H&S management system, including preparation and dissemination of all relevant documentation, development of appropriate safety standards, reporting and information chains and emergency management.

Key Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
- The candidate must be equipped with a broad range of offshore HS&E skills and have a proven track record in the offshore wind industry. In addition to a degree or professional qualification the candidate will hold a NEBOSH diploma or equivalent qualification.
