Commercial Manager / Senior Quantity Surveyor

Job Description:

Key Tasks:

  • Manage the companys commercial affairs in conjunction with their consortium partners where applicable.
  • Reporting into Civil Commercial Regional Director
  • Set up the commercial team structure on site. Manage the commercial staff and cost control administrators on site.
  • Ensure structures are put in place to monitor, review and control the budgeted or agreed expenditure.
  • Ensure that definitive long and short-term budgets are prepared and communicated to the project team.
  • Report on past performance and predicting future performance.
  • Carry out risk analysis, allocation and monitoring.
  • Implement the Companys Cost & Value Management procedures and ensure that all necessary commercial reports are produced accurately and in a timely fashion to upper management.
  • To maximize revenue and minimize cost within the confines of the Scheme Budgets, through the implementation and adaptation of the Company standard commercial procedures, ensuring always that robust systems are in place to efficiently monitor, report and manage the financial progress of the scheme.
  • Advise on improvements to the management systems, with the aim of achieving greater efficiencies.
  • Address all the contractual and insurance related issues that arise on the scheme.
  • Attend regular meetings with the Civil Engineering Director to review the project performance and ascertain levels of risk as well as exploring opportunities.
  • Work through the construction / projects managers proactively and effectively, fulfilling the contractual obligations and keeping control on budgets.
  • Maintain a close working relationship with the client, his representatives and other project stakeholders with a vested interest, ensuring at all times that our commercial interests are protected.
  • Manage the commercial relationship at a senior level for all the supply chain involved with the project. Mitigate company risk and maximise on opportunities, whilst ensuring that quality programme and continuity of the working relationship isnt hindered.
  • Motivate the on site staff, maintaining a high level of morale throughout the construction process.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager to support and recommend strategies, to identify any potential risks or issues and to find an appropriate resolution. Must additionally be able to fully exploit opportunities.
  • Keep an open dialogue with the Civil Engineering Directors, keeping them abreast of the key commercial aspects of the project and reporting to them in accordance with the deadlines set.
  • Add to the innovation and continuous process improvement making recommendations to the Civil Regional Director to increase the efficiencies of the framework processes utilised by SRB
  • Encourage others to develop new skills and enhance existing skills, by listening, understanding and coaching.
  • Ability to take charge of projects of all sizes and complexities.

General Requirements Include:

  • Fluent Polish and English is essential
  • Strong leadership, communication, organisational and management skills
  • Polish licences together with road building experience would be an advantage.
  • Technical and written competence in Polish and English is an advantage.
  • Masters or Degree qualification in Construction or Engineering related field
  • More than 8 Years civil commercial management experience
  • Motorway experience would be an advantage.
