Job Description:
Our client is a multinational organisation and leaders in the field of mechanical services and technology. Due to continued local expansion of its Irish operation, a senior vacancy has become available for a Purchasing Manager. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the Purchasing Manager will manage a team of three buyers.
Responsibilities include:
- Management of inventory consistent with lean practices to achieve optimum inventory turns.
- Work in conjunction with EMEA supply chain personnel to leverage the global agreements and optimize advantage for the Killarney, Ireland facility.
- Work in conjunction with EMEA supply chain personnel to drive local material cost reduction initiatives and maintain monthly PPV metric.
- Develop partnership approach with key suppliers and maintain the robust supplier validation process with Q.A.
- Work with Engineering on margin enhancement initiatives for large capital orders.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders and maintain P-Card/payment terms.
- Review purchase order contracts/claims for conformance to SPX policy.
- Support Production Management with planning resources to meet shipping dates according to customer orders.
- Serves as a liaison between Customer Service and Production to provide adequate communication regarding delivery status and delinquencies.
- Develop optimized e-commerce solutions with suppliers.
- Modify and leverage ERP (Mfg Pro) and other support systems to optimize functionality and provide accurate reporting for Production and Operations Management.
- Manage E&O to agreed KPIs.
- Management of the Buyer/Planner team.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Qualified to Degree level in a business or technical discipline or an appropriate combination of qualifications and work experience.
- APICS, CPIM or IIPM Diploma.
- Minimum of 4 years experience as senior Buyer / Planner in a high volume business.
- Proven leadership experience.
- Demonstrated strengths in optimizing inventory management.
- Previous experience of SAP/Mfg Pro (or equivalent ERP system) in a purchasing capacity is a key requirement.
- Strong commercial/negotiation skill set.
- Experience of Lean/VMI/Kanban manufacturing philosophies.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
- Computer literacy including MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
