Business Development Director

We are currently working with a leading Phase 1 clinical trials business who are looking to hire a Director for Busienss Development

 Account Management:  Account management responsibilities provide a common consistent basis of approach. The customer profile process provides the basis for this application and communication. 
Business Development Key Indicators represent the metrics that will be applied on a monthly or quarterly basis to measure business development progress.
Managing the BD Cycle
Continual adherence to global pre-commitment process
Continual adherence to post commitment including extensive hand over of information
Working knowledge and application of account profile development
Continual maintenance of account plans for key assigned accounts
Application of customer profile to aid planning strategy
Achieve target set for face to face meetings (10 per month, measured on a 90 day rolling average)



Job Description:

Targeted use of operational and legal staff appropriately

Clear and focused approach in preparation, planning and execution of client meetingsRecognize and handle easily obstacles to success
Continue to grow assigned accounts within allocated territory above target
Application and understanding of available tools to support role (customer profiles, client surveys and pricing models).

Working knowledge and application of the `progressive model approach to key accounts. i.e. moving an account from a peripheral status to preferred.
Working knowledge and application of all monitoring and recording activity with Salesforce.com call reports, site visits etc
Targeted use of more Senior Business Development staff to help resolve issues that may in turn jeopardize client relations.

Business Management:  Business Management Responsibilities provide for a higher level of management that integrates account management for a given territory to provide the highest returns and incorporates elements of career development that enhance job performance and satisfaction.
Territory Management
Clear knowledge of all market segments (Biotech, Pharmaceutical and Generic)
Clear understanding and applied use of knowledge within market place, including competition, technology and regulations. 
Clear understanding and applied use of current trends within the market and ways to maximize business through these trends.
Clear understanding and applied use of competitor¿s portfolio to assist in the sales cycle.
Develop, maintain and apply a territory plan for planning purposes to include the following:
Client visit frequency
Identify tradeshows and have active participation
Prioritize accounts in line with sales targets


Skills / Experience:

Provide feedback to marketing on successful activities and proactively suggest new methods and ideas to help gain future business
Active participation in the Sales and Marketing plan each year including ground up sales planning for each assigned account Supply sales targets and market information to line manager for all accounts identified
Recognize opportunities to cross-sell and leverage relations from other business units and key members.
Actively participate as appropriate.
